Swimmer Promotions

Promotion Criteria

The movement of swimmers to the next group are only considered at 3 points during the year, promotions will only take place at the following times.

January – with a review to take place in March allowing 6-8 weeks to adapt to the demands of training in a new group.

April – with a review to take place in June allowing 6-8 weeks to adapt to the demands of training in a new group.

October – with a review to take place in December allowing 6-8 weeks to adapt to the demands of training in a new group.

Swimmers will be assessed over a period of time and will have to demonstrate consistently the skills required, rather  than in on a one-off situation.

Parents/guardians and swimmers should be discouraged as per the Swimmers/ Parents Charter not to argue with the decision of the coaches. In the event of non-agreement of the decision the parent/guardian should email the club on the enquiry email and request an appointment with a member of the coaching team to discuss the matter.

More than one member of The Coaching Team and or Committee may be present at the meeting.  Swadlincote Swimming Club will not tolerate abuse of any description to members of the Coaching Team or Committee and in the event of use of abuse during the meeting, the meeting will be stopped.

A clear criterion has been set out for swimmers to be considered for promotion; meeting the criteria does not guarantee automatic promotion; swimmers must also demonstrate a certain amount of maturity appertaining to each group.

Swimmers who also attend structured swimming lessons or tuition outside of the clubs structure must appreciate that there is no correlation between the two and swimmers will be placed in groups the Coaching Team feel is appropriate to the skill level within the clubs structure.
